6. Isle of Skye – Scotland
The mountainous Hebridean island off the Scottish coast is the place to go if you want to be alone and immersed in nature. On the 1600 square kilometer Isle of Skye, about 9000 people exist, largely from sheep farming, fishing, whiskey production, and tourism. On a trip over the highly rough Hebridean island, though, you are unlikely to come across them. The environment is characterized by high mountains and sheer rocky cliffs, dreamy bays, and verdant hilly landscapes.
