Lost Letters

Chapter 5: The Truth

Anna wanted to learn more about Karl. She continued her research in old archives and discovered that Karl had been reported missing in the war. His body had never been found. The letters abruptly ended in 1944. The last letter from Emma was a heartbreaking plea for Karl to send her a sign that he was still alive.

With this new information, Anna spoke to her mother and told her about the letters. Anna’s mother was astonished and moved. She knew that her mother, Emma, had always held a place in her heart for Karl, even though she had later married another man.
