Chapter 4: The Connection
One particularly touching letter caught Anna’s special attention. In it, Emma wrote: “My dear Karl, I have learned today that I am expecting a child. It is our little miracle amidst all this chaos. I hope so much that you will come home soon to meet our child.”
Anna held her breath. Could it be that she herself had a connection to these people? She remembered stories her grandmother had told her about a lover who had gone missing in the war. Could Emma have been her grandmother? She searched through old family photos and documents and finally found an old letter that had the same handwriting as the letters from the box. Emma was indeed her grandmother.
